    Any others that should be axed?

    No inside knowledge, but South Florida's coach has run that program into the ground.
    Just going by records, Tulane was abysmal, as was UTEP, Southern Miss, and UAB.

    English is probably out at Eastern Michigan.

    I don't know of too many major openings outside of the SEC though. Iowa won't fire Ferentz for at least another year IMO.

  • I was going to put skip holtz on that list but held off... IDK throw him on it too. USF should pull the plug on him and go hard after a guy like mario crisobal. His stock has really fallen off after being on fire last year at this time and turning down a lot of offers. Might be a opportunity to buy low for USF. The problem with guys like Holtz, embree and beckman is they've only been on the job one or two years, hard to pull the plug after such a short time.

    I actually liked the Holtz hire. Pretty let down with the lack of success he's had at USF.

    And UTEP already got rid of Mark Price... he "retired". He's now free to go to all the strip clubs he wants and not get in trouble. Saw a rumor post on TBB about Sean Kuglar the steeler's O-line coach being in play there. I have no idea why but that's what it said.

    Cristobal had a rough year didn't he?

    IIRC they were supposed to take a step forward this season, and that definitely didn't happen. Should've struck while the iron was hot and made the money while he could.

    Great low-price buy for a school though, nice pick.

    Holtz did a nice job at ECU, but USF was pathetic this season. Maybe it was the previous coaches recruiting, and I wouldn't know if it was because I don't follow them, but they looked absolutely pathetic this season.

    I liked the skip holtz hire too. No idea why that didn't work out. And a where are they now post... jim levitt, former USF coach, is now currently doing work in the NFL with Navarro Bowman as the 49ers LB coach. I still think Levitt got a raw deal at USF.

    Thought the same. TBH I had forgotten that he left ECU, since they weren't all that bad this season either.

  • The big shoe to potentially drop is in Austin. A lot of chaos could happen after that. Is B Snyder considering retirement? Chip Kelly is on a lot of NFL short lists and would be #1 on UTs list if Mac is gone. I think the silly season is going to be really active in a few weeks.

    Edit: Add mack brown to my list... That guy should definitely be fired. It's not that he's been particularly bad but Texas just cant go 5 wins, 8 wins, 8 wins over three years. I think the only thing that's holding them back is they want a home run guy locked and loaded to replace Mack before they can him. They don't want to fire him and get caught with their pants down and end up with a plan B.

    Malzahn still sounds like top choice at Aub, Petersen at Ark, UT ppl remain adamant that they're going to get Gruden.

    He turned down both Stanford and UCLA in the past few yrs. I think Oregon would be very attractive to him if/when Kelly leaves.

    I wouldn't touch Cal. And I think Oregon is primed to promote their OC.

    Can somebody explain to me why mike gundy wants to leave OKState?? It's his alma mater. They compete, and their athletic facilities are awesome and Pickens has deeper pockets than any booster in america... why would he want to leave?

    That's the most common opinion amongst Oregon Mods. The only other guy they think would be heavily considered is Petersen. Funny quote...one of their beat writers was asked about the likelihood of Kelly returning and he replied "none percent."

    Still going to be some NCAA action taken on them, I assume. But we'll see. I think with the way they are going they won't want to break from what they have.

    In the end its up to Phil Knight.

    Also, Idk why Kelly wants to go to the NFL or vice versa. It has "Steve Spurrier' written all over it imo.

    Chip Kelly at Texas? That would be interesting. I don't really like it all that much, but he's a big name that would make most of the alumni happy.

    Totally agree with this... chip kelly has a college system and is a college coach. Unless some team is stupid enough to make him GM and coach a la Pete Carroll, there is no way he should go to the NFL and even if they do he still shouldn't go.
