Carson adding speed to his game

The unheralded member of Penn State's linebacking corps is preparing for an even bigger season in 2012.

  • I think this kid is set to be what we all thought/hoped Colasanti would grow into. Finally have MLB as a strength again. Carson got exposed a bit last year after showing solid promise in his first action. I love how the ball and/or pile stops when he hits.

  • I just love it anytime a Penn State linebacker hits someone. I can't wait to watch that again THIS FALL.

Carson should improve in Roof's defense, as Bradley's really wasn't ideal for a MLB of Carson's skill set.

Roof shouldn't be as much sideline to sideline, but straight ahead running and blowing up gaps. Carson is best suited for a 3-4 or as an aggressive MLB. JMO though.

It's no coincidence that Carson had his best games (measured by number of tackles) in those two games. Both those teams featured strong running games. But that is rare. Most teams spread it out and try to gain advantages, especially teams that don't think they can line up and win battles up front.

Carson getting faster may keep him on the field as more of a complete player. Good for him. Love to have experience in the middle.

  • Hope he becomes a tackle machine

  • If you can play every down at your position then you are that much more of an asset. I feel that is something alot of our players are always working at. I get excited with how well these kids work and progress.!!!

  • They're a special group of people, no doubt. Very easy to root for.
