  • I never thought we had a chance after this summer, but putting 2 and 2 together here....

  • Bad news...we can't land a RB for some reason, and I think Taylor is an uphill battle that we won't win.

Good news...we're sitting well with X, Cox, and Severin. Not to mention, we're moving up Fullers list.

This class really isn't turning out too badly...RBs and J.Jones aside. J.Pollard qualifying would be a boost.

pollard is a huge get if he can get qualified.

wonder how the staff feels about Anderson's recruitment of Savon Huggins now...granted Huggy bought everything Schiano sold, but when a player says, he just can't get excited about playing for a school with coaches who have no energy...it's quite damning.

Huggins and Anderson just couldn't find that "ground" that you need to find when recruiting players.

If you told me this 3 months ago, I'd be happy. Obviously the RB position is less than desirable, but if could land the three mentioned and be in it with Fuller until the end than it would be a relative success. I didn't think Taylor was coming here anyway...

  • I wonder if there are any "Adrian Amos" type of running backs out there. He was such a pleasant surprise last year on signing day. He really looks like a good prospect and that signing came out of nowhere. Hopefully we find a RB prior to February- either Lynch or a new guy not on the radar yet...

Got to think Severin is a Lion- like the class so far!

  • Not getting a RB is bad though. I've always been the type who tends to ignore the stars, and does look at fulfilling positions, and if get guys that aren't the guys that we were forced to chase because we lost others. In that respect, it would be very difficult to call this class a complete success if miss out on a first choice RB - and I don't see how that's possible anymore.

Let's say there are either 5 or 6 spots left.

    Our remaining needs:
    1 RB
    1 WR/TE
    1 DE
    1 DT
    1 DB

We are in very good position for guys to fill WR/TE, DE, and DB. If Pollard qualifies or we work out a Prep School deal, DT is good too. That leaves RB and a potential bonus player like Fuller. Granted, we NEED to close the deal with X, Cox, Severin, and get some luck with Pollard. But if we can somehow scrape a quality RB out of some place, this class will effectively meet their needs.

  • Yeah, after the Alabama game and with Cam and Armani in Canaan's ear, I think we ultimately win the services for him for the next few years. It's really ashame how things have transpired with Will Mahone. I agree with some above posters about Pollard. If he can qualify, that would be a great addition to this class.

  • How does an offensive player watch the Bama game and say "boy, I want to play there"?

short of Redd there is no one on offense any good so in theory positions should be WIDE open

  • Wide open to do what? They might be on the field but who cares when you are in our offense. Severing isn't 5'5 100 lbs so we clearly aren't going to make him our game plan.

Agree with your thoughts. I do thing another quality TE is imperative in this class. Wilkerson is a DE to me and James won't be a TE for long. With what we have on the roster right now, I just don't see a capable TE and our QBs desperately need one.

Timing for Severin says this should be good news, but stranger things have happened.

One thing I'd like to point out. PSU has flipped eight kids in the last three years from other schools, including five in the class of 2009. It's on PSU's side that it flips someone from another school, so here is hoping a good quality RB is on the docket. God knows we aren't getting a quality one by not flipping one.

  • Just curious...do people consider Lynch a quality RB? Most people don't seem to be assuming he's in this class right now, especially if we're only taking one RB. It would seem to me that from what most people said, they'd like Lynch but aren't impressed enough to be happy with him (obviously 2 RB's would have been ideal, but not feasible anymore).

I hate to say it, but I think Lynch would be OK if we got a stud plus one next year. I feel like PSU fans keep saying that about RB, though (next year we'll get one), and this year would obviously be better than hoping we get one next year. Honestly, I think building the OL is more important than getting a stud RB - though without a doubt it would have been nice to get both.

Anyway, I guess enough of RB's. Let's hope the indications about Severin are correct and he picks PSU.

  • Royster was a 3 star. If Lynch ends up being a #1 for us someday, he should have a pretty darn good line to run behind - like Royster did for the bulk of his 3 years as a starter. That worked out pretty well.

  • Do you know we start 4 seniors and a junior on the O-LIne..................and the coach talks about a lack of depth?

    Rooting against PSU recruiting well?

  • Without a doubt a very good OL can make a RB look good but it is very hard for a very good RB with a bad OL. Without a doubt the OL is more important but a good RB is also imperative to make big plays in the open field. If i had to choose I'd take an average rb and stud OL any day over an average OL with a stud RB
