  • It sounds like Graham has every intention on staying put at Tulsa. If Bradley can lure Telvyn Austin as his DC, that would be a very popular duo in Pittsburgh. At this point, its the type of move needed after the Haywood debacle.

    Scrap to sPitt. If this is what it takes to get some changes in the program then that's fine by me. Hopefully he pulls one or two more assistants away to really force the change. Ideally he can take Big Red and one other guy.

    Then Joe will realize it's hard to get new assistants with such uncertainty and his contract renewing next year. Throw in the fact that the University will probably want a new hire upon Joe being gone it's hard to get the new staff in place.

    Maybe - just maybe - this could lead to a new head coach. One that actively recruits....knows who Blocker is....and doesn't have his son on the staff.

  • Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for the Paterno regime in Happy Valley. Icing on the cake would be if Bradley takes a few assistants with him.

    I think if Big red and either LJ or Vandy go we could be looking for a new HC

    Here in lies the problem with that scenario.

    1. Larry Johnson. It's been heard many times (although on the internet so it's pure internet rumor) that LJ will probably leave football when Joe retires and get more involved in religion. If that's the case I do not see him leaving the community he's in now and going to Pitt. He's active in the community and has a nice house, why go to Yinzertown when you can live in Happy Valley?

    2. Vandy - Vandy was a former head coach , does he go and make the leap to DC (assuming he would get that position) or does he hold on and hope he can get something better at another program i.e a UCONN or somewhere similar.

    Either way I think we can all agree that losing Scrap will be a big blow. He's an active recruiter and has done a fine job.

    Whatever the case things are getting interesting.

  • Those of us who are ready for the next era of PSU football to come sooner rather than later needed this as the first domino to fall.

    The key is that some other important assistants go along with Bradley. Or so logic would say. However, i think that Joe is stubborn enough and wants to keep coaching enough to go forward with Jay, Galen, Kenney/Anderson, Buggs, and a bunch of glorified GAs.

    It's apparent that Bradley was likely not going to be handed the reins when/if Joe retires/dies, and I would have hated for him to be left out in the cold.

    Honestly, no I'm not. I'm a perfect 50/50 right now. Joe is 100% about coaching next season. The issue is whether all the chaos around him will have any type of affect on his wishes. That has yet to be determined.
