I hope that they have something like this already in mind...

  • Fitz at Northwestern is underpaid. He's been pretty consistent with what he's had to work with in terms of recruits..

Hope makes less than some OC or DC....damn,

  • Nearly $1,000,000 a win this year for Ferentz - and my company tells me I should just be happy I have a job in this economy.

  • So if you jack his pay this year...do you get pay cuts in the future. This was one year with an inspired team...how many one hit wonders go on to do great things? Not saying BOB won't, but why the rush to reward someone for one season. I get it that it is under very difficult circumstances, but if we struggle the next few years you paid him more than the market would say he is worth.

It's called supply and demand. a lot of teams will want his services, and will gladly pay top dollar to receive them. Don't be cheap when it comes to good coaches.

I would normally agree with you. However, with what we have seen him accomplish this year people have remained interested. If he were to leave, a large number of players transfer, and the recruiting class be lost, I do not see that support continue by the masses. I feel that the amount of revenue that would be lost due to a decrease in season tickets sold would be far more then the what we would need to pay him to stay. My hope is that he comes out after the Wisconsin game and just puts an end to all the rumors and announces that he is staying and this is pointless.

the coaches who get paid more than him have all at least won a BCS bowl game (not sure if pelini has tho). I think O'brien's salary is good for at least next year, but if he pulls another winning season out his rear they better start rethinking his salary.

$2.3 million with 5% raise per year is not being cheap sir. I mean you really want to get into this how many hot shot cannot miss coaching prospects have missed...no Belicheck tree has done that well in recent years...if you tell me Weiss at ND, you will be slapped with a lobster.

I cannot see BOB leaving for anything but the NFL. No point to go to another college.

  • I will never understand why college coaches would want to jump to the NFL. The payday is higher but job security is zilch. Chip Kelly makes 3+ million a season and and job security for as long as he wants the job. The same with BOB. The way he's going now he can stay until he wants to leave, he's not getting fired. You have to work harder in the NFL and deal with a GM that will pick your team for you.

  • I actually like lobster. just remember your position if he is hired away....just saying..
