Big Ten OOC Schedules ..

  • Getting anxious to see the game tomorrow, so I'll toss out something to think about.

    Who has the easiest and toughest OOC schedule this year in the conference? Penn State failed to land a national game (against a preseason ranked opponent), but by chance got a very balanced schedule. When they were scheduled, no one guessed Temple and Ohio would be teams on the rise.

    Michigan typically has a tough schedule, always having ND on the list, but this year adding #1 Alabama, and adding Air Force as an appetizer. Very strong.

    Always embarassing is Indiana & Purdue, and there are some other weak lists this year. Which teams should ticket holders demand better from? Wisconsin!!

    As a ticket holder, looking forward to strong OOC schedules moving forward.

    - Illinois (avg 103): W. Michigan (86), ASU (32), Charleston So. (227 ... skews the average), La Tech (67)
    - Indiana (avg 117): Indiana St (173), UMass (127), Ball St (113), Navy (57)
    - Iowa (avg 80): No Illinois (60), Iowa St (64), Central Mich (107), No Iowa (89)
    - Michigan (avg 51): Alabama (1), AirForce (54), UMass (127), ND (25)
    - MSU (avg 71): Boise St (5), Central Mich (107), ND (25), Eastern Mich (149)
    - Minnesota (avg 100): UNLV (140), New Hampshire (97), Western Mich (86), Syracuse (79)
    - Nebraska (avg 101): So Miss (44), UCLA (58), Arkansas St (90), Idaho St (212 ... another avg buster)
    - Northwestern (avg 90): Syracuse (79), Vandy (66), BC (61), South Dakota (154) (one outlier amongst the tough academic schedule)
    - OSU (avg 83): Miami OH (103), UCF (65), Cal (30), UAB (137)
    - PSU (avg 68): Ohio (84), UVA (70), Navy (57), Temple (63) (Ohio not getting love from Mr Sagarin)
    - Purdue (avg 106): Eastern Mich (149), ND (25), East Kentucky (160), Marshall (91)
    - Wisconsin (avg 82): No Iowa (89), Oregon St (48), Utah St (94), UTEP (98)

    I think Iowa's is worse than Purdue's. and Minnie's - yikes. Good luck getting people to those games. Pretty sure PSU is the only one with an OOC with 4 teams that will have winning records.

  • Northwestern actually has a (relatively) interesting OOC schedule with the exception of S. dakota. I might consider going to a game (live in Chicago) w a buddy that is a Vandy alum.
    MSU's strength rating is inflated severely-we know ND is perennially overrated and I think Boise st is going to take a significant step back this year with so many of their starters leaving.

  • hate to say it, but PSU is the only team who could start 0-4. Minny escaped that fate barely last night. Iowa could have a tough time with a winning record after their OOC schedule too.

  • I saw a stat last night that said UCLA, USC, and Notre Dame are the only FBS schools to never play an FCS school.

    If winning was easy even losers would do it.

    Pac-12 has played 9 conference games for a while and most of them still have decent OOC schedules. I'm not too surprised by that.

  • PSU's schedule will definitely be the most competitive for the non conference games. Michigan and MSU both have solid schedules but with the exception of Alabama should be able to handle themselves (for some reason I don't think ND has it in them......again).

    Indiana, really? I guess they need to give themselves at least 4 wins a year to keep everyone interested
