    Please go back and read our board again. Most of us are saddened by what has transpired and are not celebrating it at all.
    It makes me sick to even think about any of this and I wish that it never happened. Although this happened at Penn State, it's a smack in the face to us all. I hope anyone who was even the slightest bit involved in any of this gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

    There is no comparison between this situation and the scandal that has been going on in Columbus. I wish a thousand times over that what is going on in Happy Valley never happened. There is no joy to be had by anyone.
    I know this has to be hard on all of you and I wish all of you the best in getting through this horrible ordeal.

    Yes we do have some very immature fans but, most of us are not celebrating. We are discussing it just like you're doing here on the Penn State board. This situation goes beyond being a part of a loyal fan base.

  • We all know what has happened is sickening and repulsive. But let's use some common sense here and agree that ALL fan bases have moron's in them. To lump the whole fan base as classless is not only ridiculous but moronic. I too can pick a few PSU fan's on the board that are moron's and classless but intelligence tells me that it doesn't mean all their fans are that way. Let's just hope this gets quickly put to rest so we can all get back to what we like to talk about that excites us the most and that is two great universities with great traditions.

  • I'm from another board and I'll post what I think is a general level-headed interpretation of events.

    IMO, The Paterno's have always known ole' Jer was a sick pervert, and their solution was to cover it up and keep the business in house. He was afterall a loyal assistant for many years.

    Then a nosy GA nearly screwed up the entire Happy Valley story, when McQuery witnessed Uncle Sandy anally rape a 10 year old in 2002 in the team showers.

    No problem, since then McQuery has received multiple promotions and is still on staff to this day! Meanwhile Uncle Sandy continues to enjoy unrestricted access to the program and all team facilities, all the while molesting children in the team showers up to at least 2008.

    At any time Sandusky's child rape fantasy could have been put to an end, by the AD, university president, vice president, GA/staff, Paterno family, even janitorial staff. This scandal will, and should, wipe out the entire program (not through NCAA sanctions, but through mass firings and costly lawsuits).

    I think its a bit much calling McQuery a nosy GA in this instance. He was in the wrong place at the right time I guess. Do you think he went in there knowing what he would find?

    Your last sentence makes me laugh. The entire program won't be wiped out because of this. Who are the mass firings you speak of that would directly affect the football program?

    I find it disgusting that anyone on Bucknuts or any other board would be celebrating or making light of this. If there is a truth to the charges against Sandusky, children were abused in the worst way, and that will be with them for their lives. PSU's students, players, alumni, and fan base did nothing to deserves a scandal like this. And finally, I always had respect for Joe Paterno. He's one of the great college coaches in history. Sadly, this will now be part of his legacy. This is a bad day for everyone that loves college football.

    Someone on Bucknuts started a thread asking the fans to keep it classy and cordial when we visit on the 19th and most of the responses are NO. Haha I am not really looking forward to that trip anymore. Considering skipping the tailgate at least to avoid the abuse. I doubt I'll be able to properly take a joke about this for a while.

    I've always had a ton of respect for Joe Paterno. It is beyond sad to learn of his inaction in this case. Such a shame to have his legendary career marred by something that should have and could have been resolved the right way from the start.

    My question is: Will Paterno be the head coach of Penn State this time next year? And more importantly, do you think he should be?

  • most of you are forgetting that some (note the word "Some", certainly not ALL), Penn State fans have a reputation for doing really nasty vile things to members of opposing fan bases. For example: There were youtube videos of PSU fans throwing beer bottles at OSU fans, and also, some nasty PSU fans threw balloons filled with urine at OSU band members before the game in 2005.

    Perhaps OSU fans feel the nastiness of a small segment of your fanbase justifies the celebrations, just a little bit.

    No and No. There is little to no chance and little is running out of time that he will be the coach within a week after the bowl game. He is 85 years old, doesn't recruit; has a stale program offensively and can't stand on the sidelines anymore. This doesn't include the most recent news. It's time for a change.

    Again, there was no balloons filled with urine. Who in their right mind thinks to themselves while drinking...wow, I'm going to piss in a balloon. Mind you, they are hard enough to fill with water let alone opening it up, putting it over your junk, and then having the dexterity/balance to fill it without pissing over yourself.

    Ohio State fans continue to spread this myth.

    Regardless, this is far more deep, and more serious than a fan getting water dumped on them. If that's your comparison as to why a lot of OSU fans are having a blast with this, then perhaps I and a lot of my bretheren do have it right when we call Ohio State fans the worst fans in the country.

    Absolutely no one should be getting any kind of enjoyment, revenge or otherwise out of this.

    The amound of Ohio State folks who are absolutely loving what is going on is really sick. Most are rationalizing it as, well PSU fans couldn't wait to jump on us when we got in trouble, now the shoe is on the other foot...they are loving it.

    Mind you, the 2 situations are entirely different on a variety of levels.

    Just further cementing my opinion that the majority of OSU fans are nothing more than trash based on the enjoyment out of what is going on.

    I for one is not happy to see this. As a Spartan fan I have a ton of respect for Joe and the program he built and sustained over the past 50 or so years. It saddens me to see his career end like this, but it is hard to imagine him coaching next season. This is just icky and it just seems like the best way to move forward would be by purging. Clean slate.

    Just my perspective, but I hope the PSU program gets past this as quickly as possible. This is not something you want to see happen to anyone.

  • Anybody who takes any joy in this situation deserves to meet Jerry Sandusky in a shower. It's one of the most disturbing things I've ever read. These are innocent little kids and that monster stole that innoncence from them. It's not some type of game.
