Beaver Stadium Is Suddenly Missing Some Class...

I have no knowledge of this picture situation at all, so In have no reason to doubt your word. That said, what I doubt is that the picture were taken down in order to erase the program's references to players who played under Paterno. Unless this is being done in extremely incomplete fashion, you are really suggesting that the administration is planning to eliminate all references to every player that played here under Paterno? Seriously? Seems very unlikely.

I agree, my initial reaction was that seems unlikely. Why try to minimize such a rich tradition of football here. But then I realized the absolutely idiotic cowards that run this university these days. They can't fire their 46 year head coach face to face, they can't face the public for alumni town hall meetings that they promised to have, and they bent over with consent to the NCAA's draconian sanctions. Based on what we've seen for the past 10 months, I have come to expect the unexpected with this impotent leadership.

  • Once, again, my friend was told by stadium personnel--who he said were certain about what they were telling him--that the pictures were removed by order of the administration to eliminate visuals affirming anything related to the previous head coach.

These players were coached by ex-person Joe Paterno, so their pictures must go.

    Erickson or BOT? Who cares?

Perhaps some of you haven't heard that the large black-and-white photo posters of Penn State football greats were removed from the concourses of the stadium, presumably between the Navy and Temple games. The administration ordered the athletic department to remove and discard them. Since the players had been coached by an Italian guy who never existed, their pictures could no longer remain on display.

Say goodbye to the great football tradition at Penn State. Does anybody care?

Renaming a flavor of ice cream at the Creamery "Peach! just Peach!" is one thing. Eliminating the pictures of great players to help obliterate any trace of a great coach is quite another. Beyond disgusting!

David, I think it's best you learn how to bend over and grab your ankles like some members of this forum. It's apparent that nothing this administration does, or might do, vis a vis Paterno and his legacy, will matter to these folks. Abusive power structures are embraced by statists and contrarians and that’s why some here will argue with anyone about anything.

  • This is almost unbelievable. The only reason I can believe it is because the admin has been such a disgrace. It's embarrassing. This really is the remaking of history, it's like Animal Farm. Are they really hoping we forget all memories of the Paterno years? When we get new leadership maybe the Stalinistic tactics towards Paterno will end. What's next, banning the Paterno's from State College? We can't get rid of these wimps soon enough. I never thought I'd miss Graham Spanier.

  • WWtf are you guys yelling about? No one has said this is ok. No one. There had just been conflicting reports on whether or not it was true and people aren't going to get pissed off at something that hasn't been verified.

Also, thought these movements weren't about Joe?
