Beaver Stadium Is Suddenly Missing Some Class...

  • A friend at the game on Saturday noticed traces of where something had been hung and was now missing. He noticed that former player pictures were gone. Other people in the area saw the same thing and asked stadium people what was up. They were told exactly what I reported in the OP. They were removed by the athletic department because they were ordered to do so by the administration. Who knows whether it was Erickson or the BOT? At this point, I don't care. Same thing.

How about a little outrage, folks?

Update: apparently the ice cream provided at the Club level food services was labeled Peach--period. It would seem the Creamery hasn't removed the Peachy Paterno name. Yet. Sorry about the lack of precision there.

So we're sure they're gone? Someone else said they were there. I think people just want confirmation before being outraged for no good reason.

  • I called into the postgame PSU radio show that is done down at the Student Bookstore last night on my way home from work and asked why Joe was not mentioned when they went through the 1982 National Championship team, and why he has not been remembered at all at the PSU games by our university.

What the radio guys said was that Dave Joyner told them they were going to do something for Joe and his family the 1st game of the season, but that never happened...They went on to say "Dave Joyner straight up lied to us." I was pretty stunned they said it so blunt because I thought they might be hired through Penn State as it ws on the Penn State Sports Radio Network.

Joyner and our entire administration needs to go ASAP! We continue to say this, but it seems like only a small fraction of us are getting behind people like Franco and the guy that was on here telling us about the Rally for Resignations in which he took shit from a number of people on this board.

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

Also, you're going to have to show me how to fight fire with fire. My old man is a fire fighting captain, don't think that is right.

Then your old man never fought a forest fire! Forest fires are almost always fought with fire, as they start controlled burns in areas ahead of the fires hoping to stop the spread.

Nah he did in Florida. Burn lanes and zones are fun. Granted they are used mainly for prevention in many forested areas now. And you also have to stop the current fire.

This is because people like MTayl obviously agree with the administration & BOT.

Then you haven't read many of my posts on the subject. I think the whole BOT should have been ousted for not taking action when they first learned of the situation and then again for their poor management from November on, especially in regards to the NCAA.

Well it would depend on the fire now wouldn't it?

    And being a dick.

  • I'm starting to think that PSU was ordered by the NCAA to wipe away all the remaining memories of JoePa. I just don't understand how PSU admin would willingly do the things that they are doing.

    PSUJT0409

  • So in this case the anology makes sense... To get a member of the board to resign, you somehow get the board of the company the member works for to tell them to resign.

Oh they were JT$. The NCAA said the statue had to go and everything with it. Obviously the the trophies going back was going to happen with the vacated wins, that happens everywhere. But I have 0 doubt that the NCAA said be gone with everything as part of the deal. BOT had no problem with that.

  • I vivdly remember staring at the Lavar wall poster at the stadium...maybe I'm thinking of the Navy game and not this weekend. Regardless, the explanation given sounds absurd and ludicrous....kinda like the music discussion when Brown Eyed Girl was removed. My guess is they will be renovating the pictures and putting better ones up.

So, your brother's, uncle's, cousin's, neighbor told you that they were taken down, and his sister's parrot told him that is why. Therefore, it must be true and we should all be outraged. Got it.

  • Thank you for your pithy contribution. Does that pass for clever where you come from?

  • lots of anonymous beer muscles in this thread. any other info on the pictures?

  • Unfortunately, short of providing pictures of blank walls inside the stadium, I don't know what else can be said right now. A friend I trust saw empty places where pictures of players had apparently been, asked people working at the stadium if they knew anything about them, they explained what they knew, they seemed to know what they were talking about, and that was that.

If I didn't believe the story I was told, I wouldn't have shared it with anybody. And I already have more than enough reasons to be furious with the BOT; I don't need to be creative about that august group.

If it somehow turns out that the story was inaccurate, I will humbly apologize.

    Google "controlled burn".

  • Perhaps they are planning to put up new pictures with more color? Or maybe more current pictures of the student section and BOB/current players? (Can you make a sign of a current player? Or is that an NCAA violation for advertising?)

  • Jesus Chirst they were taken down, gone you can see the outline of where they used to be on the concrete walls. I was there they are down the admin sucks it is a disgrace end of story. Down pictures Down as in not there.

  • It amazes me no matter what board I've been on some of the nonsense posted, If I said Beaver Stadium was made out of concrete and Steel, someone here would say no "it's actually a space aged, polymer plastic resin." The pictures are down and your admin has failed you yet again. Colin, Benfatti, LJ all of the AA posters are gone.

I have no knowledge of this picture situation at all, so In have no reason to doubt your word. That said, what I doubt is that the picture were taken down in order to erase the program's references to players who played under Paterno. Unless this is being done in extremely incomplete fashion, you are really suggesting that the administration is planning to eliminate all references to every player that played here under Paterno? Seriously? Seems very unlikely.

Well to be fair both of your statements are correct. It is made with concrete and steel and they use a space aged polymer plastic resin to lock the anchor bolts in when they built it,

  • Well at least we got that straightened out. You tell me why the pictures are down, don't you think if they were going to be repaired, etc they would have done that in the summer and put them back up? It's because of the "culture" they were taken down. Maybe we should put up a photo of varying textbooks and test tubes, computer pictures at the football stadium, yeah that would be cool. The ADMIN blows goats, sheep, and probably each other don't you get it?
