Badgers sink Lions at buzzer

Penn State seemed headed for overtime with No. 22 Wisconsin on Sunday before a buzzer-beating three sent the Nittany Lions to a crushing loss.

  • Indiana makes great comeback in the last 30 secs to avoid a collapse over the last 2 weeks. They take the outright B1G title.

Talk about gut-punch endings (if you're a Michigan fan, that is). Indiana stole that one.

Better matchup for PSU in my opinion despite the result today.

  • That Traevon Jackson kid must have had one heck of a basketball coach when he was in 8th grade. biggrin

  • Perhaps we can win one or two games in this tourney. Would be sweet to win the tourney and sneak in the Madness with 20 loses (Liberty). Oh well. Lots of expectations for next year.

  • Frazier, Marshall, Newbill will be a deadly combination next year. Travis should be solid on the boards and chip in a little on offense. Who starts at center?

  • Man this game was such a heartbreaker (not like we havent had other games end this way for us). They played much better than Wisc the whole game, except for the initial 3-5 minutes. they deserved to win. But ohh well, great effort and well played by the team. Hope we can pull of an upset or two in the B1G Tourney. Would be fun!

  • Another heartbreaker....all year long it seems their season went this way.

  • I couldn't agree more. I've watched more Lions basketball this year than I have since the Crispin days. This team has played so hard and always either found a way to lose (missing free throws against Nebraska) or been gut punched (wisky yesterday). Many times I felt like we had half the ability of our opponent yet made up for it with energy and hustle. All year we have had guys playing out of position because of necessity yet always found a way to make it work. I think having Frazier at point changed this team so much.....having Marshall and Newbill on the wings instead of bringing the ball up would make such a difference. I can't wait for next year....i really think this team is close to being able to get over the hump. Not having a center may be a problem, but if you think about where Chambers came from (See Villanova during the lowry-foye-ray-nardi days) I think he'll be right at home. I know this is a complete generalization but i really feel like this comparison is not that far off:

Lowry : Frazier (dynamic point who can score)
Ray : Marshall (three point styrength who can still penetrate and handle ball)
Foye: Newbill (strong body slasher, threat from deep, ball handler)
Sumpter : Travis (same type of player but Sumpter was much better prior to injury)
Fraser/Sheriden: ?? (fraser was a walking piece of glass and sheriden contributed more at 6'8", but neither was relied upon...can graham fill this hole?)

I understand the comparison, but, aside from Frazier, all the 'Nova guys were substantially better college players than the PSU guys you're comparing them against.

i understand that, as of right now. I was just relating a previous experience of running a guard heavy offense that Chambers may be very familiar with. While Frazier, Newbill, Marshall may not be Ray, Foye, Lowry....they could possibly be very good....i was very impressed with the marshall-newbill combo all year (with no supporting cast)...throw in Frazier and you never know what can happen

+ John Johnson mid-season, who I hope can be a knockdown shooter for us.
