  • Just make shots. Love it. Reminds me of years ago when Bobby Knight was asked what his team had to do to win and he calmly answered, "Score more points than they do."

Sometimes players overthink things too much. They're too worried about where they need to be and how they're going to guard this guy and how they're going to run that play. Sometimes they need to be told forget all that stuff and just make shots.

Man, OB is just flat-out easy to like! Obviously with some of the recruits coming in future days should be brighter for the hoops team. You could see the football and basketball teams getting real close with the relationship the coaches have.

I really want to believe this, but we've seen this place half empty with teams that went to the NCAA's. I've expressed my sentiment frequently about how bad an environment and setup the BJC is for our hoops, but at what point do people show? If you say consistent top 10, how do we get there? Pat can't take this team from a few wins to Top 10 to get it filled., and I'm sure he tells recruits that it will fill when we win. But what happens when we start getting in the middle upper half of Big 10 and people still don't show?

You get the one difference maker he's talking about and I think the BJC would fill up. Combine a young star and wins, and kids will fill the stands at the games, especially since the BIG is going through an awesome cycle of producing great competition.

We will never be a consistent top 10 program, just won't happen, but we have the potential to be a top half of the Big 10 type team and I think Chambers can get us there. We need to be more consistent and people will come to the games. You need to build up the fan base and that happens over time. I know plenty of students who would go to basketball games if we had a good team, but they don't because they think we are going to get blown out by most of the big name Big 10 teams. All of our good sports teams consistently get good turnouts so I think if we get a good basketball program that the fans would show up.
