BJC Gets New Scoreboard

  • Purchase, NY, August 22, 2011 – ANC Sports Enterprises and Penn State University announced the Bryce Jordan Center will receive a new center-hung scoreboard featuring high-definition quality visuals across approximately half a million pixels.

ANC Sports will spearhead the development, installation and integration of the new structure into the 15,000 seat venue. The new scoreboard will feature four Mitsubishi Electric 10mm Diamond Vision video screens each measuring approximately 12' high x 16' wide and two 16mm Diamond Vision ribbon displays, one on top of the video screens and one at the bottom of the structure.

The new center-hung system will include over 1100 square feet of dynamic video capabilities which will provide real-time statistics, team logos, crowd prompts, animated team introductions, student athlete videos and live footage of events at the arena.

"The new Bryce Jordan Center scoreboard will provide our students, alumni and fans with incredibly clear visuals in addition to in-depth statistical data," said Penn State Director of Athletics Tim Curley. "Perhaps the most exciting feature will be the ability to integrate the center-hung video system with the digital signage throughout the arena to create a more energetic and entertaining atmosphere. I think the fans will be really excited about this addition to the gameday atmosphere from the moment they walk in and see it."

The new scoreboard will complement the Diamond Vision LED ribbon system which ANC Sports installed in 2008. Driven by ANC’s VisionSOFT™ operating system the entire signage system will feature the capability to synchronize together featuring one image, video or animation series. Compelling visuals such as “We Are . . . Penn State" featuring player images walking across the video system, from one display to the next will forever change the game day environment at the venue.

“Our patented operating system provides the University with unprecedented capabilities which create a memorable experience,” said Jerry Cifarelli, president and chief executive officer of ANC Sports. “We are extremely proud to expand our partnership with Penn State with the renovation at the Bryce Jordan Center and look forward to delivering new fan enhancing content and applications for all the University’s nationally recognized venues moving forward.”

The Bryce Jordan Center scoreboard upgrade will take the national stage immediately as the men’s basketball team begins its quest to return to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year by competing in the 2011 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament with two games at the Bryce Jordan Center on Nov. 14th and Nov. 16th. Meanwhile, the Lady Lions will look to build on their second round appearance in the 2011 NCAA Tournament by hosting perennial contender North Carolina during the Fifth Annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday, Nov. 30th.

      • I'm going to say yes, but I don't think the athletic department would admit to it. Either way this one looks pretty cool.

I didn't go to any games last year, but wasn't it more than just that game. Watching on television it seemed like there were multiple games where the shot clock wasn't working or buzzers sounding for no reason. I think all that stuff is connected with the scoreboard anyway.

The problems at the Wiscy game help expedite the new scoreboard, but were not the reason for it.

            • That's a pretty sick scoreboard! Very nice and state of the art, too.

              • Omg, the wisconsin game was awful and of course it had to happen when all those people were there for CVC. Regardless it was an awesome win. Glad to hear they are getting a new one, its long over due. Now please Tim, make sure the jumbo-trons are done for 2012
