BIG or ACC?

    Nobody cares about wrestling or hockey when it comes to changing conference affiliation. Also, I would like to see someone point out that research money has ever been used as an excuse to switch conferences. Football is king and that's all that matters. So points 2 and 3 are out the window.

    As has been stated on here an ACC with Penn St would bring in more tv money. A Big 2 without Penn St would bring in less. Travel costs of all our teams would be less in the ACC. I don't know the numbers but I bet they're close. The problem is the dinosaurs on the BOT need to look to the future and the future is in ACC country, not the rust belt.

    Tell that to Cael and Gadowsky. That's why they paid top $ to bring in Cael. plus the BIG is lot better than the ACC ,when it comes to wrestling, and hockey does matter just look at the Pegula arena, so yes points 2 and 3 does matter.

    I would think a move to the ACC would be good for Penn State. The money is an issue but with the lack of schollies over the next four years and the fact that "BOB" might leave for a better coaching job, Penn State might be able to survive the ACC a little better than they would in the BIG. I think it would help with recruiting also.

    I'd rather not tell Cael that wrestling doesn't matter. The fact remains, however, that nobody is going to switch conferences because of wrestling or hockey. What's best for the football program will determine what conference any school is aligned with, not any other sport.

    No, Hockey East would be a viable option for hockey. Don't fool yourself. The BIG won't be the top dog in hockey. Hockey, in this instance, doesn't matter because there is a more than viable option for them to play in a solid league. Don't make it look like the BIG is the only option. It surely isn't.

    I never said hockey was going to be the top dog, i'm saying football,big network,wrestling and hockey will be the main reasons why we will never ,ever leave for the ACC , you can bank on it.     Dude, I'm a hockey guy. I think you are very very very naive if you think Hockey East wouldn't be a viable option for PSU ice hockey. You can't bring up that as a negative reason for leaving for the ACC - hockey. Because there are viable options here. Hockey isn't a main reason to stay in the BIG. One thing is for sure, if PSU left, BIG hockey would be F*CKED because it wouldn't have enough playing members to get an automatic bid.

    You can use wrestling as the crux of your argument, but certainly not hockey.

    He makes it sound like the BIG is this national power in football. It isn't. Two or three good teams; lots of average or shitty teams that won't amount to anything. Sounds like the ACC if you ask me.

  • If the B1G invited Rutgers, Maryland, Pitt and UConn, they could probably replace Penn State's marketing footprint.

    I have no issue with robo.

    The reality is we have gotten screwed. More than your average team. Ohio state and Nebraska ran the ball 110 times...without a single holding penalty. Thats HARD to do in a thud drill, let alone in a live game.

    The ball clearly crossed the plane of the goal line, and a ref bumped into our players after a change of possession. We are talking as the players were running onto the field. We had a phantom false start.

    PSU has stunk in the second half. No one disputes that but if you honestly don't think that PSU is being targeted here then you are blind.

    If I am one of the irrational guys so be it. I will call a spade a spade. I know that our big ten brethren think we shouldn't be playing. I know that the big ten presidents took a vote to kick is out, and I know the refs are human. No official is unbiased. Just not gonna happen.

    This. It's just too bad that our administration doesn't have the balls to realize the leverage that they have. The BTN's value falls immeasurably without Penn State in this conference. You lose subs in the numbers 1, 4, 7, 23, 27, and 30 markets right off the bat. This, plus destroying the hockey conference and TV revenue it will produce, gives us tremendous clout at the bargaining table. If only we had someone in power who understood that and took advantage of it.

    I didn't think PSU's footprint went past the footprints they leave in the big steamy piles of cow dung in the pastures that surround their rickety stadium. LMAO!!!

    The ACC North would like what one old ball coach wanted to see while he was still at PSU. I think jumping ship and starting a new in a more geographically friendly conference, with more money soon to follow, would be the right decision for the Nittany Lion faithful.
