BAMA fan needs travel advice!!! TIA

  • Our group is currently staying in NYC for Thursday night. We were planning on visiting Gettysburg first thing tomorrow morning, then driving up to State College. Based on current conditions, should we scrap the Gettysburg visit? If going to Gettysburg is out of the question, how should we travel from NYC to State College? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • since 80 is a mess, i would suggest taking 80 East to 287 South (at my hometown) to 78 Westbound... Take 78 to 81 and follow signs for 322.. i think you're going to find issues any way you go unfortunately..

    enjoy the game!

  • I really dont make the NYC trip to SC so I dont know much about getting from there to the game, but I will say that I live very close to Gettysburg and went to University Park for school. I would absolutely skip Gettysburg on this trip. The trip from NYC to S.C. will be much easier from the north than from Gettysburg. Harrisburg to State College on a regular game day is tough, let alone with the current conditions. Good luck to you on any account and lets hope for great fan representation on both sides and a great game. We Are....

  • Check this site www.pa511.com for updated road closures.

Scrap the trip to the burg. I've heard that 80 is open now and that is probably your best way in from NYC. If they open 322 then use 287 to 78/81 to 322w.

    Have a safe trip

Don't do that if 80 is open. The last 15 miles of 322 are full of two-lane awfulness.

  • The last 15 miles will be easy on friday afternoon. it's the first 15 miles I'd worry about. The river has to be raging. If the road(322) is open I'm heading that way just to check it out.

This. You'd have to cross the worst of the beast to get to Gettysburg from where you're coming from. As long as 80 is open, just take the straight ride to SC.

  • Thanks so much for all of your feedback. NYC straight to SC it is! I'm looking forward to the game, and regret Mother Nature is being so rough on you guys these past couple weeks. Being from Tuscaloosa, we know the feeling all too well. All the best.
