Thank you for sharing the photo. Spent the weekend repainting the interior of my house and could only check every so often. This makes me smile more than close to being done.

  • I gotta tell you guys this, my only contact with the tournament results was this thread that my wife kept checking on my phone as I drove our son back to U. Park.
Anyways, she says "why don't these arrows work", and I'm like what arrows. "The Green and Red ones" Needless to say I'm a bit paranoid that she's been down-voting people, but turns out the only votes given out that I see now that I'm home were up-votes. thumbsup
So, thank you Justin6 and everybody for keeping this up all afternoon.

Friggin' Iowa. I can understand the sentiment that 2nd place isn't good enough, but show a little bit of respect to your opponent and to the conference.

  • I can't wait to see the guys out here in Des Moines. I'm going to try to volunteer to help out at the meet and if not then I'll buy some tickets hopefully. I get the feeling its gonna be a great environment because they love their wrestling out here in the corn fields.

Yea, McD was PISSSED. At the award presentation for 125 class he jumped off the podium before it was done and just left. Delgado had a great smile on his face watching him leave. Nico stood there in 3rd place like a gracious competitor and not a sore loser. Guess McD also threw his medal away. None of this surprises me.

  • P.S. Congrats to Ruth on the B1G POY award, but I still think David Taylor is the more impressive wrestler. Love them both, don't get me wrong, but I just come away dazzled by Taylor every time. Ruth is as smooth as he is dominant, but I've got a man-crush on DT. I can't wait for the Taylor-Dake rematch.... I'll be on the edge of my seat the whole week leading up to that.

  • I've been following wrestling (and watched it back when I had cable), but I still feel like I can't truly appreciate the dominance of Ruth and Taylor.

I was like that too until this season. Ruth flipped me to his side of the fence. He make it look so easy and effortless.

I realize this is like saying that I like the $150k Maserati more than the $150k Bentley, but still..... can one of our resident wrestling gurus explain what it is about Ruth that gives him the edge over Taylor in these types of subjective evaluations?

I wouldn't call myself a guru, but L'll give my personal opinion. For me, it's his defense that sets him apart. DT is perpetual offensive motion, always working for the takedown. Plus, he's a tremendous rider on top with his arsenal of tilts. Ruth is also great offensively on his feet, and is a tremendous rider on top with his arsenal of cradles. But the key aspect that Ruth excels in is his defense in neutral. Guys will get in deep on a single and Ed just shrugs them off most times. Occasionally he needs a whizzer to break the grip, but even that is rare for him. He's just so strong without looking so because of his effortless flow on the mat. All of that said, I still enjoy watching DT wrestle a bit more.

  • This year I'm going Ruth ... been totally dominant at his weight.

We are debating levels of greatness really and it's not a knock on Taylor, but Ruth has been great this year and really all 3 years have been just wow and visually seem effortless.

If winning was easy even losers would do it.

I think Taylor defeats Dake this time.
