At the FSU-Maryland game - how ANY decent recruit can consider

  • this place is beyond me - its a high school stadium. Arguably their biggest home game, and the FSU fans are at least a fifth of the crowd. Stadium is small and is still half empty. I'll give them credit - it's a "black out" game, and the 20,000 fans that are here wore black. I get that thy are injury-ravaged and bad, but even two years ago when the stadium was more full it was pathetic. If you're a Maryland kid with any talent, I can't imagine staying here unless you want to be close to family.

That is ACC football....all fairly small stadiums and very rarely sellouts....other than FSU, Clemson and VaTech, football season is just a necessary evil that gets them to BBall season.

  • Plus the campus is in ghetto College Park

  • Just wait, PSU will be playing there in a couple of years.

(Assuming we are still in the Big Ten)

  • Well there is always that "possibility" of a bowl game.. It's amazing how kids value these bowl games.. There are only a few bowl games that are worth playing in and the rest would be less exciting than playing in beaver stadium on any given Saturday...

They are rewards for a full season of work. The kids get to go somewhere, usually warm, for a vacation, get free stuff, its great for them. The grind of a season makes a Bowl, any Bowl, a great incentive.

  • I hope they come to the BIG as itll be another PSU home game. Same with Rutgers.

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

Hopefully PsU has the same in the upcoming seasons. I want a vaca to Hawaii as well.

The players didnt feel that way last season. They made it clear they did not want to play in that Bowl (forget its name) game last year.

Yeah it sucks Hawai'i has already said they won't play us during these sanctions.

Yeah that was when emotions were still high. I think now that things have cooled down and people are beginning to realize the PSU fball team got the shaft that they will listen. OB has even hinted at it being in the works, but prob. not until 2014-2015

  • I think the NCAA should allow these players to do something special if they are bowl eligible, like allow them to take a trip somewhere for a week, or even just allow them a weekend somewhere. But we know how the NCAA works..They are just looking out for the student-athlete, right?

Their coach said that, but I would imagine that could be changed.

I get all that, but there are only a handful of schools that get to consistently travel to a warm weather destination for a bowl and psu is one of them. Last time md was at a warm weather bowl was in 2006, fwiw..

By the late 3rd quarter today there were as many FSU fans if not more in the stadium than UM fans. PSU would take the place over.

Their coach should be fired after their season this year. Pathetic.

Much like when VT plays at MD, PSU would make College Park/Redskins Stadium/Ravens Stadium or where ever they decide to play the game into a home game. I went to a few games growing up including games at College Park and Baltimore's Memorial Stadium and it was at least 50% PSU fans. And that was back when MD had a solid team with the Boomer Esiason's of the world.

The campus is nice. But once you step foot off campus then yes, ghetto indeed.
