Anzalone checks out Penn State

  • jhouck610 said...

"He'll be the mostly heavily recruited Wyomissing player ever," said Ross Tucker, a Wyomissing grad, former NFL lineman and CEO of Go Big Recruiting.

this helps too, he is good friends with AA father... I saw them both play, did you???

I've seen the film. And honestly what college football coaches look for is vastly different than what the dads on the sidelines see.

All I have to say is Anzalone should check the track records of the two schools (PSU vs. OSU) on producing NFL LB's. It should be a no contest and he shouldn't get caught up in Urban Meyer's car salesman talk.

    Rotf lmao nice try.........

true, very true... Thats why he should get an offer, never said he wasn't gonna be good... I also was on the side line for Chad Henne, Kerry Collins, Gilmores, Braynt kid that went to miami, and others that played in the area. They all stood out and looked domanate on the field. Zayd stood out like the others, I what him in blue and white...

bucky34 doesn't belong on here, but ohio state had Hawk, Carpenter, and Laurinaitis.. Rolle wasn't bad either... we are LBU, and Ron is a much better coach... but those guys where productive...

Haha I remember James "Lay Down" Laurinaitis! He was the most overrated player that I had ever seen.

see now theres the difference between PSU and OSU... you want to put LB's in the NFL, we want to have successful LB's in the NFL. thats the point we're trying to make

    Wait what...
Did you just say Bobby freaking Carpenter is productive?
I dare you... I TRIPLE DARE YOU to go to Dallas, walk up to a Cowboys fan, and mention the words "Bobby Carpenter," and see what happens. His own teammates called him "Barbie" for goodness sake.

You're better off jumping in shark infested waters with open bloody wounds.

Penn State LBs are about 9087597x more successful in the NFL than OSU LBs. There is simply no debate.
Hali and Wake both probowlers with All-pro honors. Bowman with first team all-pro honors in just his second season. Sean Lee was 2nd in pro bowl voting at ILB before he broke his wrist this past season, and Connor just signed a multi-yr deal to start alongside Lee in Dallas. Poz has been every bit as productive as Laurinaitis, who is the absolute best thing OSU has going for them at LB in the league and that is nothing compared to guys like Lee, Bowman, Hali, and Wake.

I don't intend to insult anyone from OSU or start trouble; but there is no argument to be made in favor of "track record" of Ohio State LBs in the NFL vs the track record of Penn State LBs in the league. To suggest that OSU's is in any way superior is just downright stupid.

you mean Navorro bowman, tamba hali, cameron wake, and sean lee... then other LB's that are better than your best: Posluszny and connor..

so basically what i'm saying is.. if Anzalone wants to max out his potential Vanderlinden can do it. AA will like the OSU spring game, but lets see if his parents like PSU this week

I posted this on page 2 of this thread (which you clearly did not read). So I'll repost it again. Please stay and debate, as the last person I responded to with this exact same post has yet to respond.

Current NFL LB's in alphabetical order:
OSU - Bobby Carpenter (marginal NFL player), Marcus Freeman (who?), AJ Hawk (decent career so far, 1 pro bowl), Ross Homan (who?), JL (pretty good for a few years), Brian Rolle (Decent rookie season), Austin Spitler (15 career tackles)

PSU - NaVorro Bowman (first team all-pro) - we are already about even with OSU after one player, Dan Connor (mediocre couple years), Josh Hull (done nothing), Tamba Hali (3-4 outside backer; 2 time pro bowl, 2nd team all pro, sack champ), Sean Lee (great second year), Poz (nice little career so far), Tim Shaw (done nothing), Cameron Wake (3-4 OLB; pro bowler; all pro; near sack leader to Hali)

So, again, what track record should he look at?

  • Off of ESPN:

    Penn State:
    Paul Posluszny: 5 years, 516 tackles, 5 sacks, 6 INTS, 5 FF, 1 FR
    Sean Lee: 2 years, 137 tackles, 6 INTs, 1 FF, 2 FR
    NaVorro Bowman: 2 years, 189 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 FR, First Team All-Pro (1)
Josh Hull: 2 years, 3 tackles, 2 FF
    Tim Shaw:4 years, 83 tackles, 4 FF, 2 FR
    Dan Connor: 4 years, 156 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF, 1 FR
    Cameron Wake: 3 years, 122 tackles, 28 sacks, 4 FF, Pro Bowl (1), Second Team All-Pro (1)

That only includes guys that primarily played LB at PSU. Tamba Hali is a stud 34 LB, and Bryan Scott is a safety that has played quite a bit of OLB for the Bills. That's not a bad little haul for guys in the league.

Another post from a fan base that is losing all sense of reality. Your lack of knowledge is showing dude. Can you name me two All-pro LBs from OSU currently going. I'll wait.

  • If your good enough you'll get into the league, wether your from PSU,tOSU or Kent State...Anzalone's chances of success will not be any different at either University. Buckeyes like where we stand with him, PSU likes where they stand with him...lord knows Stanford may be one to watch here...imo, this one takes a lil time to play out.

That list has to be 2 years old:

Marcus Freeman suffered a career ending injury with the Bears and is currently the LB coach at Toledo.

You didn't mention: Thad Gibson (not that big a miss but still...), Larry Grant (was starting with the Rams and 49ers).

And I know you mentioned Hawk but what you did you know that he has led the Packers in tackles all but 1 season? He's also in their top 5 for interceptions every year but 1 so far. The Pro Bowl- as long as there is Clay Matthews he won't be voted in.

Honestly I think the kid is looking at the coaching staff instead of the paint and logo on the field. Penn State's coordinators are good but Fickel and Vrabel (with his 3 super bowl rings- not bad for a Buckeye linebacker huh?) are super stars. I didn't say they were better I said they were stars and apparently that's what Anzalone likes.

You must be the blindest of homers if you think Fickel and Vrabel (with his enormous amount of coaching experience) are superstars and Vandy is just "good."

No need to bother responding, it won't be worth anyone's time.

Yeah Hawk is hated by the vast majority of GB fans I know. They hate that they drafted him so high and got such an average LB and were thrilled when they cut him only to be disappointed that they re-signed him.
