  • Thanks for the diplomatic words. While AA is definitely a great player he is more of a top 5 prospect in state. The top prospects are Robert Foster 1 and Adam Breneman 1A. Any number of prospects including AA, David Williams, Dorian Johnson or Pat Kugler could be #3. The drop off from the first two is substantial IMO as I believe Foster and Breneman could be among the 5 best players in the entire country.

  • I will say this. PA is very top heavy with

    Foster
    AB
    AA
    Johnson
    Williams
    Boyd.

If we land only 4 of those 6 that would be a big win.

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

I like David Williams but he's behind Johnson, Anzalone and Kugler definitely as prospects. In fact I think AA may be a better offensive weapon for some teams than Williams is.

I think Williams is a Lion. He is a stud. Foster? Pitt bound IMHO.

Sweet, so do I. I was just talking about the top prospects in PA. My thoughts on guys do not change whether or not I believe they will be Lions.

  • I personally think AA is overrated just a bit. Physically he has all the tools to be a great LB with some coaching. But his competition in high school is not very good at all IMO. But, these coaches know more than i do.

  • Only thing I see working against us with D Williams is that Williams said he wants to be in a city environment (think it mightve been a Scout article). Supposedly he liked that about Wisconsin.

Edit: Flood thinks PSU is #1 and Wisky #2 so far for Williams. Great to hear coming from an optimist Badger (maybe he got wind lol).

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

The coaches seem to value physical tools. I'm fine with it, especially since I have confidence in guys like Vanderlinden, LJ, McWhorter, etc. to coach them up.

And yeah...I've seen no reasons not to trust the coaches at this point. They've done a fantastic job of evaluations so far, IMO.

  • I counted 9.. Connor, Poz, bowman, lee, wake, hull, Arrington, short, shaw.. 6 of which are/were consistent starters in the nfl..

Add to that Hali and Bryan Scott who have started at lb in the nfl as well..

I guess I have a higher view on Williams. He is a special talent IMO. I like Anzalone, and would not have a problem w/rating him anywhere from 3 to 6 in PA this year. If I was doing the rating for PA my top 10 would look like this:

1)Foster- Freakish athlete who is a match up nightmare for the majority of college CBs. He is on the field contributing in special teams and as a receiver the second he steps foot on campus

2)Breneman- Ridiculously talented TE Prospect w/a lethal combination of size, speed, and ball skills. As good of a TE coming out of HS as I can remember in a very long time. He could be the ultimate weapon in the right offensive scheme.

3)Johnson- Prototypical LT with great feat. He is where he should be size wise for a HS Player. He will need to gain size and be coached up, but he could be an all conference performer.

4)Williams- Stud running back with excellent vision and great elusiveness, He is able to make 1 cut and get north and south in a hurry. As good of a running back prospect as there is on the entire east coast. He is a potential feature back in college.

5)Anzalone- Amazing athlete w/great versatility. He can play OLB, TE, RB, FB, or HB. When he finds his place on a team, and concentrates on that spot, he could be special.

6)Kugler- Big strong kid who can maul people but still be quick enough to get out and pull.

7)Boyd- Intriguing athlete who could excel on either side of the ball. Which will it be?

8)Mcglinchey- OT with huge frame. While very raw, he has the potential to be very good. I see him more as a RT.

9)Issah- A bit of a ? but his athleticism can't be denied. He will need to be coached up both on the field and in the weight room.

10)Orndorff- Very good TE prospect. Nice size and good hands. He projects very well on the college level.

My next 5 would be Brian Lemelle, Delton Williams, Curtis Cothran, Andrew Nelson cool and Devin Wilson. twocents

yeah, might as well lock it up b/c you don't like hearing the truth. p.s. A.A. is going to Ohio State's spring game next week. He'll be a Buckeye. wise decision

Totaly agree with you Ldandy about Williams I love this kids speed, work ethic and elusiveness. I love PA's top heavy class this year. We can land some studs like Foster, Boyd, Anzalone, Williams and Johnson

  • I see what your saying, he has all the connections to Pitt but that Spring game diffinetly hurt them! Only at the most 4000 fans in a high school stadium that had 9000 fans in a high school game. I think we have a chance with him but clearly Pitt is the leader. Anzalone is not overated he is a physical beast. Bad competition means nothing. He is still a physical beast, with great size, spead and can hit

    That is not true.

  • Hearing from twitter he is heading to OSU's spring game. Can anyone confirm?

  • I was just saying that Anzalone is going to be an animal, same as Boyd I don't care about thier competition. They are great athletes, have all the tools, and Anzalone has great size. There are athletes all around, I wouldn't care if he was from ND, if he is good and has the tools he can be part of this family!

That's fine and I tend to agree with these two. Doesn't mean that statement you made is correct.

The problem is a saw him play twice... I didn't even know his name after the game, cause he didnt stand out... Wyo QB is an awesome athlete, but way to small for D1 football, he stood out... I am a high football junky, I saw some great games last year... I think he can
develope into something, but he isnt a starter of day one, he needs coaching, USC, Ohio st., and Florida are not right for this kid.. Penn State and Stanford are the two schools for him... but that is just my opion..

You're right. We should take your opinion of kids over the Likes of USC, PSU, OSU, FL, OKLAHOMA, Michigan ect.

I'm not as harsh as 13 is. But the statement you made is that only Stanford and Penn State can provide him the coaching needed to bring him from where he is now, to being a solid to great college football player. I love Penn State, I believe in Stanford's coaching as well, but those other programs have elite coaches as well and your knock on them was unwarranted. Furthermore, if that is not your intention with that statement then I would love to hear what is.

I also believe that you are the guy who described himself as a huge "PA guy"?

  • Anzalone much greater than Zayd! More potential, just an overall better player and more pure LB. I love Anzalone and like Zayd but the fact is Alex is a much better prospect
