Anzalone breaks it down

  • @tmaluchnik said...

Stay classy OSU fans. OSU fans are leaving negative reviews on medical websites for Dr. Sal Anzalone, trying to sabotage his career. You guys have problems. There is more to life than 17 year olds and football.

I hope they track them down and if they never once visited him that they can go after them. People need to get a grip.

  • Generally overlooked in all this...Sean was able to get another great story loaded with valuable information. Way to go Sean!

  • "... It was voted as the No. 1 undergrad business school and that's what I want to major in. It's a great opportunity and the football speaks for itself."

I'm not really into reading into recruits' quotes, but this statement doesn't make sense considering AA seems dead set on getting his MBA at the same school he gets his BS. Would it not be more important to look at which school has the higher ranking Masters program (and for all I know, it could be ND)?

I think he should be corrected in the rating of Notre Dame as the number one business school in the country. University of Chicago has been number one for the last fifteen to twenty years with Stanford, Harvard and Northwestern flip-flopping order right behind them.

Notre Dame may be in the top ten.

I think you are referring to graduate. BW has had ND # 1 undergraduate for the last few years. Also could be different entitiies doing the ranking. Acutally ranking is almost irrelevant within the top ten or so.

Yeah ND's is the #1 rated undergrad program for business. But as stated above there are many quality programs. I just have the feeling that as good as Anzalone is he is not one of the top 3 lb prospects that ND is rating on their board. He will be a great get for whoever brings him in but I think we have a few bigger fish to try and fry.

ND wants AA as a running back. AT least thats what they told him a few months ago.

  • So he re-opened the door to Columbus. What a SHOCK!!! My $$$$ is still on Meyer. He hypnotized the kid once, he'll do it again. No kid can resist the guy. As long as there's no one else in the room when it happens.

I'd take that bet for sure.

  • What struck me is how well various schools, including Penn State, handled both the original decision and the decommitment. You wish a guy good luck, stay in touch and move on. Anzalone referred to that as classy. We all ought to remember that.

I don't buy his interest in OSU the second time. It's almost like Williams and Reeves "leaving the door open for PSU", but we know they really didn't. There is more to this than the perv. There is something about OSU that he just doesn't feel right about. When a kid makes a decision and then bolts from it two weeks later due to strange circumstances and that fan base feels scorn enough to tarnish the Anzalone name, I don't see how OSU will seriously be considered.

This will come down to Florida v. PSU in the end for some reason IMO.

  • Ironic how PSU fans are ripping on OSU fans for inappropriate internet message board postings and yet I have read 1-2 PSU fans ripping on ND fans via internet message board postings. Hmmm...

1-2 PSU fans ripping on ND fans pales in comparison to what the OSU fan base is doing these days.

Dunno what you're talking about... maybe MBA? Stanford doesn't even have undergraduate business. Virginia and Notre Dame have had the top undergrad business schools for around the last 10 years in whatever order you want to put them. For MBA, that's largely up for debate but I wouldn't even put Notre Dame in the top 10. Kellog at NW and Wharton at Penn are largely considered the best along with the others you listed. So I'm going to guess you're talking about MBA.

Anzalone's quote clearly says "undergrad" in it though and what he's referring to is Business Week's rankings which look at things like job placement, salary, employer feedback, MBA matriculation, etc.

  • Also notice on the business week rankings that Penn State is ranked highest in the most important category for non-future NFL players: Recruiter Survey Ranking. That's right, recruiters who want to get the best graduates from an undergraduate business school go to Penn State. The rest is just hot air. Ask corporate recruiters--who are the ones giving out job offers in a terrible economy--who's best and it's not close.
