Wt: 262
40: 5.00
Shuttle: 4.78
Vert: 29.9
Powerball Toss: 36'
Sparq: 82.26
SPARQ score was No. 2 among offensive lineman and he was one of two players in the Top 100 over 250 pounds.
Will have a full Q&A with Nelson at some point tomorrow or Thursday.

Was talking to 72 about the vertical. That's insane for a jr OL. Just insane.

Great get by the staff, this kid is an athlete. A little coaching and he will be great. Think he gets a 4 star by NSD

To me, SPARQ scores for OL = irrelavant. It's nice to know that the kid is athletic, but a dumb SPARQ score doesn't tell me what kind of player he will be.

While I tend to agree with this generally..... I'll take a smart player over a dumb one. Tends to imply that you'll likely have less to worry about in other areas. More likely to be willing to put the time and effort in the classroom, watching film, understands delayed gratification, likely to make less impulsive decisions.... things that tend to go along with individuals who are good students.
SPARQ doesn't guarantee any of that.... but if I had to choose is all.... law of averages.

Agreed about the Sparq score, but you can get some value out of the measurements and testing numbers if only to see how athletic the kid is. He told me he ran a 5.0 40, it's good to see that's legit and not like 90 percent of the other false 40 times floating out there.
The 30-inch vert is what really turned my head.

I know you haven't been a fan of the SPARQ score thing since Muller...but it's just another tool to evaluate players. It doesn't have to be a high priority one, but that doesn't make it irrelevant.
