I don't think there is any way it's an accounting error. Either someone is wrong on how much it cost, or someone else helped pay for it. And if that's the case, it raises even more quetions.

Umm... the taxpayers and the students help pay for it.

My post was also in response to 17's post:

The real question that needs to be asked is this. If Lubrano is correct and Freeh received $12 million with PSU on the hook for $8.1, who paid for the other $3.9?

If the above is true, who forked over the rest?

  • I have avoided this long enough. Who has a list of the BOTs email addresses? I need to send a letter.

A group of BOT Members as mentioned before. I could easily see that going down

  • It's not an "accounting error". Lubrano is likely including more costs associated with the report than what the university is. They, perhaps, are additional costs that were incurred during the investigation that did not go directly to Freeh.

  • Bringing Down a Legend:How Pennsylvania's Investigating Grand Jury Ended Joe Paterno's Career

I'm about a 1/3 through this article and find it interesting. I apologize if it's already been posted but I've never seen it.

An very interesting point was the if this were in almost any other state or the Feds at least Linda Kelly wouldn't have been able to condemn Joe in the court of public opinion.

    Enjoy...

Thanks! What might also be effective is if we post our letters to BOT members as "open letter" on Facebook, Twitter, etc., specifically calling out the incumbent BOT members by name. I think we are letting these board members hide behind the "BOT" curtain too much. We need to start using their names as individuals when calling for change.

  • Lanny Davis has written a book on crisis management and has included a chapter on Penn State. Page 307 of the book says that he met with trustees to discuss "Coach Pa" and his termination. Coach Pa? Really? I must have missed people referring to Paterno as Coach Pa. That's all I needed to look at. No, I didn't buy the book, I clicked on the look inside link on Amazon and took a quick look at what they gave away for free. Definitely not sending any money Davis' way.

That's another thing... the money spent on PR firms by the BOT. Geez. Everything was orchestrated and scripted not in the best interest for the university but the BOT/Corbett.

    Damn pisses me off!!!

  • We know John Surma is leaving the BOT. Why not? His mission was accomplished execute his brother's vendetta.

Here's Keith Massers thoughts (from an AP article published on 2/7)...

new board Chairman Keith Masser said Surma and his family are owed "a significant debt of gratitude. ... His years of service to this university and our students is a source of inspiration and pride."

We owe him what? Our gratitude? For what?

    These guys have to go.

  • Kelly actually defended Paterno in the early days. She was asked about him and she was clear that he was not a target of the investigation, he was not facing any charges, and that he has been 100% cooperative. She might have included his name to increase public outcry, but she almost went out of her way to clarify that he was not under investigation.

He said it was probably closer to $12M. I didn't take it as an absolute. Someone should just ask him.

Paterno legacy hovers over Penn State trustees meeting

Pennsylvania State University's trustees appear headed for another battle at their meetings in Hershey this week, as backers of Joe Paterno continue to try to discredit the probe that found him culpable of a cover-up in the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal.
