  • Good bye and good luck. Hope the patients go find another doctor.

An undergraduate business degree and a dime will get you nowhere...unless you go into sales. My point is that these rankings are worthless.

Sure didn't hurt me...or is Morgan Stanley nowhere?

I'll refrain from answering your question. Your mother should have warned you not to ask questions that you don't want to hear the answer. My comment wasn't meant out of disrespect but more so at Morgan Stanley you could have had a Liberal Arts major as an undergrad and it wouldn't have made a difference. Your a sales person like a said in my post... My brother works for Morgan Stanley.

While playing a sport? It would be very difficult but seems to be a smart kid so he may be able.

The value is decided by whoever is reading the data. To some the rankings may mean a lot, to someone else...worthless.

But I would argue that a BS from a high profile COB isn't worth a dime. That is simple not true. There are lots of excellent jobs that pay very well and have tons of room for growth that only require only a BS degree.

I don't want to get a pissing match with you about this or steer this away from the topic, but that sounds pretty elitist.

I think we are thinking of two different things...Morgan Stanley is one thing, then there is Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. It's a joint venture and as an analyst I certainly don't do anything related to sales. Unless I sell ROI.

  • Just published:

Q: What are you going to major in at Ohio State?

Anzalone: I am going to be in the Fisher College of Business as an honors student and do the three and two program to get my MBA. I will be able to come out of college after playing football with a bachelor's degree in business and an MBA.

Different story than the one we heard from Anzalone's brother.

Yeah my PSU undergrad business degree is completely worthless in investment banking (rolls eyes)

Correct... it's 5 years, not 4 years. He took a lot of AP courses in HS and was able to test out of some of the basics.

Let me see if I have this right.

Anthony Anzalone thinks he's leaving Ohio State after 4 years with a bachelor's and master's degree. That about right?

    #restraininglaughter

If he went into college with transfer credits like many incoming freshman do these day's it shouldn't be a difficult accomplishment. Heck, I entered college in the mid 90's with 11. Today kids are going to college with up to a year and a half of college credits, and many MBA programs are 2 years, making it a realistic option. If you go in with 28+ credits and take summer classes for both undergrad and grad work you can easily complete a BS and MBA in 4 years. One of the biggest advantages of enrolling as a freshman with a boatload of credits is you get into the classes you want because you have seniority; add to that the fact that he is on the football team and he shouldn't have any scheduling issues getting in the way.

Then you just made my point for me! As an analyst when somebody originally hired you they certainly didn't look at your undergrad degree from OSU or PSU and "wet" themselves . They probably looked more at graduate degree. Oh and by the way when I want to tweek my brother who works for Morgan Stanley and he spews the same BS that you just did I tell him he works for Dean Witter. He negotiated directly with Jim Gorman when he went to MS and showed me his 8 figure signing bonus to prove it...

Alright my original point was probably "overstated" but as an Investment banker don't tell me ( because I know I am in the industry ) that whatever you majored in as an undergrad "really" matters. They look at where you graduated from and make sure that you will work your ass off as an entry level guy. If you're a senior level guy they are probably looking moreso at your body of work ( and if they look at where you went to school ...it ain't where you went to undergrad).
