Alex Anzalone announcement

  • He tweeted that it will come on Sunday.

  • Getting to the point I don't care anymore about the theatrics/drama of Alex Anzalone. Why announce Sunday when he has known for the last few days where he is heading?

  • The folks running the event tell the guy's when they will air their announcements.

I thought I read the timing of his announcement was dictated by ESPN.

Best of luck to AA where ever he ends up. I'm thinking ND. At least it's not Ohio State!

    Same.

Kid pays too much attention to the message board and online community who have kissed his butt all cycle. The first sign was his family actually talking to PSU posters about his recruitment, the second and much more conclusive sign is how he delays his decision even though he knows where he wants to go.

If he knows, call up the coaches and end the recruitment. Anything else is just asking for attention.

Wasn't LeBron's "The Decision" a big enough fail for ESPN/Nike?

  • I just don't see how a player like him can choose ND...

Penn State is LBU, we have Vandy, we produce great LB's...and are known for our defense.

ND has been irrelevant since 92'...and Kelly coached teams are not by any means known for their defense. I know for a fact that ND will be looking for a new coach in 3 years tops. The guy will be exposed or have a woody hayes type incident.

Although AA is a really smart kid so maybe he is fooling everyone?

I really AM at the end of patience.

Maybe it has something to do with TV, but WTF, I'm starting to think he isn't a PSU type of kid after all. First tosu and now all this.

Of course, I will be VERY happy if he comes to PSU. He is a fine athlete, just looking like a bit of a head case.

  • Because ultimately life-decisions come down to what feels right. You can list the pro's & con's of every woman you know and the one you marry may not be at the top of the list. But the one that feels right to you on some personal subjective level is the one you pick. Humans often throw out the checklist o' fact and go with gut. Maybe his gut just feels right with ND.

Im not disgusted... He did his due diligence. Who knows what he wants in a school. He made his choice. But it's his choice. I don't agree with it, as ND is largely irrelevant and over-hyped. But he's 18.... 18 yr olds buy into hype all the time. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way is that his family hired a publicist... A publicist? Cmon son... That's just unnecessary...

Yeah, seriously... If he really said that, BS... Interested to hear what his brother- A Penn Stater, has to say about that...

only in the sense that it made everyone hate Lebron. It was one of the highest rated television "programs" of the year and I want to say ever but I'm not totally sure

Why? Because he isn't picking Penn State?

People on this board need to get a grip. Just because Anzalone feels that Notre Dame is a better fit for himself doesn't give PSU fans the right to question his decision or start lashing out at him for doing so. He, unlike the majority of recruits, took a very methodical approach to his recruitment and visited an extraordinary amount of schools, ranging all the way from the east coast to west coast, and not only was he looking into the football program and the academics of the university, but he was also very interested in the culture and type of people that he would be potentially surrounded by. At the end of the day, he felt comfortable with the academic prestige along with the prestige associated with the history that is imbedded in the Notre Dame football program (not to mention the national exposure he is going to get), and furthermore I think an essential part of why he is choosing Notre Dame is because of the level of comfort he feels with the current ND commits.

I wish him nothing but the best at ND. He has a good head on his shoulders.

Amen. +1. I think he made the wrong decision of course, but its no reason to talk bad about the kid. He is a good kid. Good luck to him.

  • People always have and will buy into ND hype... Coming off back to back 5 loss seasons, which I'm sure Kelly is blaming on Weis. But if he falters this year, it won't be as easy to pin it on Charlie.

    Recruiting Class Ranks

    2010:
    -- 247: 21st
    --- Rivals: 14th
    --- Scout: 19th
    2011:
    --- 247: 7th
    --- Rivals: 10th
    --- Scout: 8th
    2012:
    --- 247: 12th
    --- Rivals: 20th
    --- Scout: 16th
    2013:
    --- 247: Currently 4th
    --- Rivals: Currently 10th
    --- Scout: Currently 3rd

Wherever he decides to go, I wish AA the best of luck unless he plays against PSU. I understand the off-the-field attractions of ND--they graduate players, quality education, tradition, and beautiful campus--but the on-the-field product has been lacking for some time. That's not to say our on the field product has been in the class of Alabama or anything like that either.

or.... maybe because he provides countless interviews at every turn, his family has been all over the news because he committed and proceeded to de-commit like 2 weeks later, and his family thinks it was a good idea to post on PSU message boards (the night before he committed to OSU no less, and Alex was in on it himself). Just an attention starved family imo and i've been tired of the recruitment for awhile. David Williams is taking a methodical approach to recruiting and you don't see.
1.) his name in the news 24/7
    2.) him committing/de-committing from anywhere
3.) his family posting on message boards

you can be methodical about your recruitment and not be an attention whore. Dorian Johnson, David Williams, etc. to name a couple. There have been PLENTY of PSU fans tired of this recruitment before it was ever known he was headed to ND and not PSU.

Notre Dame is a fantastic school, and I understand why he would choose to go to school there over PSU. Hasn't he already been accepted into their MBA program? Or is automatically accepted for some reason?

The thing that's annoying is prolonging the decision. If you know, great, tell somebody and get it over with. Extremely disrespectful to do this and keep coaches waiting for a few days. Hopefully he calls BOB and Muschamp before and let's them know before he goes public, and the sooner the better.

He has a good GPA and is making his decision for the right reasons, but the way he's handling the announcement makes it seem like he's not as mature as the rest of his recruitment suggested. JMO.
