I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

  • I thought we had the edge because we were closer to home for him than Miami. When the uncertainty of the world of football (Shannon firing) hit. I just got a sense, and I don't know why, that he wasn't ready to stray that far from home and have to deal with the potential issues yet in life. Didn't think he wouldn't even leave his own back yard though. Oh well, moving on.......

I can only think of the line from the movie "Tin Cup". "Perfection is unattainable." Well we're close.

Don't worry we'll get one.....Eventually. Gill will be eligible soon, we hope. surrenderlol

  • Don't shoot the messenger, but according to a BC poster, he has a kid or is going to be having a kid. Don't know how true, but that is what he said.

Sucks, but rather lose him to BC than Miami. Can't say the staff didn't pull out all the stops...except for, well you know chairshot

  • Geez, he was the recruit I wanted the most of the uncommitted. I wasn't going to be surprised if Golden made a power move for him to recommit to Miami, but I'm disappointed we'd lose him to BC.

    PSUfan28

  • I have heard this as well.

Guess I can't fault the staff here. They had the kid wavering back in the summer.

  • The shot at the staff was more a shot at the whole year especially DB recruiting. We put a lot of eggs in ALJ very early.

  • This pretty much sums up how this recruiting class/season has gone all along. Another one bites the dust. More fuel to the fire that change is needed otherwise we will have another terrible class next year when the northeast and mid-atlantic region is LOADED with talent. We can't afford to let that happen.

You are right. If you want PSU to have a banner recruiting class next year, you NEED to hope PSU has a new staff. This staff won't be getting a good class next year considering its failing miserably this year. No one is buying PSU this year because of coaching uncertainty and laziness. You think it will be better next year?

  • Every year.......................... NEXT YEARS CLASS is loaded.

With the current staff in place next year, it will be even worse because Joe's contract is up. Recruits aren't going to want to come here when they know Joe will most likely be done as head coach, coupled with that, teams are using Joe and his old age as a means of negatively recruiting, this I'm sure of.

    Bravo, bravo staff.

Well, given the "writing on the wall," (i.e. most if not all of our coaches will be gone from PSU after this season, and they know it), I'm actually a bit surprised that they've recruited as hard as they have, and gotten as many commits as they have.

The coaching staff overhaul needs to occur immediately following the bowl game. 1) for any potential ressurrection of 2011's class... but most importantly 2) JoePa stays and all the staff look like rats on a sinking ship = we'll have the same recruiting results in 2012.
Screwing the pooch in 2012 = PSU is set back 3-4 years. Dropping the ball for 1 year in this class = a flesh wound. Dropping the ball 2 years in a row including 2012 = back to the "dark ages".

That's a given. We need DB's. That's all there is to it. We have ZERO in this class!!!

  • FWIW, I'm pretty sure Pulliam is being counted in this class.

That said, it is remarkable how poorly we have done with DB recruiting.

Sean, whatever happened with Christon Gill? That's a name I haven't heard in a while.

Apparently the thinking is that we aren't in need of a ton of recruits/talent back there. Baffling.

Gill is still an option. I've been in contact with him frequently but it's the same story over and over again so I haven't done an update. Buggs is telling him that they're monitoring his academic situation and it's a 'we'll see' on the scholarship situation.

To be clear, it looks like the "kid" story is bogus. I guess Farrell asked him about it and he started laughing very hard.

So, if that is the case, we lost out to BC for an elite recruit at a position of dire need.

    Damn.

Wow, regardless of if the "kid" story is true or not, it's still ashame that we lost out on his talents to BC especially when playing time presents itself so well primarily after next year.
