Akeel Lynch incident---Actual incident

  • From talking to a few of my police buddies up at University Park, I was able to get a few details about the incident. It's their version of what happened and they said that multiple newspapers in State College were given this same account to be published by them to clarify and address that garbage article by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette that didn't include any details. So the skinny is:

Lynch went to Schulze Hall, saw a female friend inside the door, and tried to scare her by kicking the window in an attempt to make a loud thud. Akeel didn't realize that he's not an ordinary boy and has grown man strength. Akeel accidentally shattered the window.

His friend came and let him in, they didn't know what to do, so he went to find his residential coordinator. Someone called the police, they came and identified Lynch on the surveillance. By the time they identified him, his residential coordinator had called the police in assisting in reporting the incident.

Akeel explained the situation, police took a report, Akeel paid around $950 in repairing the window in full damages.

Its also a summary offense/civil charge, hearing later in last week of March, where charges will not stick due to his cooperation and restitution. My cop buddy said that it was nothing malicious, nor should it be a big deal. Said Akeel seemed like a good kid, and thinks that him getting charged for the incident now is ridiculous and said he's getting charged because of policy, but thinks some of it has to do with him being a football player. Clarifying, this is all his opinion and his version of the events. Said he also informed multiple news outlets of what happened, so I'm sure there are a few other articles you can find that verify his version of the events.

Just thought I'd share my buddies version of the events, since he was there.

Thanks, I just couldn't stand that article from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and the celebration going on in the comments section by Pitt loyalists. I just can't stand how they turn everything in the JS saga and were happy that the scandal happened to us at the cost of kids getting abused. I understand sports rivalries, but I think it crosses the line when you're happy that children got abused to tarnish your former rivals reputation. On top of that, calling for Akeel to get kicked off the team and using the fact that the charges were filed four months later as a basis to say nothing has changed at PSU. Granted not all of Pitt fans are like that, but the loudest ones who show up on those boards (all four of them) are ridiculous.

I've come to the conclusion that nothing will change the way they think. They are so set in their bias that they will ignore all evidence to the contrary. They even go as far as to suggest that THON is not the cause we make it out to be. The vitriol from that fan base is literally astounding. I have taken the approach that I could not possibly give less f*cks about what they think, and no longer care. This attitude has served me well the last couple years...

Oh how they forget that just a few months ago, three Pitt players were given a slap on the wrist for assault, I mean two players (including Ray Graham) blocked the street while their starting WR (Devin Street) punched the kid in the head....IIRC, they didn't even miss the Notre Dame game...

It's probably cuz ray graham wasn't fast enough to run from the fight with his 4.8 40.

  • LOL ^^^ ... He wasnt "blocking the street"... He was leaving as fast as he could.

That kid used to look like a top 3 RB... Now a late day 3.

His injury killed him. He was never "fast", but he was a low 4.6 guy with great cuts and vision before the injury. The kid is still walking around with a limp. I feel bad for him.

  • I had two kids before when I coached mess around in an elevator, one kicked the door just being silly and it broke. Had to pay for it, plus got some kind of ticket.
