As one of the boards elder statesman at age 42- I still remember my friends taking me out for my 21st birthday in State College. (at least most of the night I remember) You need to take your buddy out- it is your duty. I went through med school and your work can get done Sunday and next week Monday through Friday. Enjoy life now, go to State College as much as you can. The season's already 1/2 over! You'll look back in 20 years and be glad you had the memories.

P.S. In 20 years, you'll be like me- taking the wife and kids to the game. It is still loads of fun seeing my 10 and 7 year olds in head to toe PSU gear, the wife and I having a few Octoberfest beers in the lot and passing football with the son prior to the game. Just different fun than the G-Man, Skellar and Phyrst days...

I say it depends on what type of grad program you are in. I'm a 1st year in a clinical psych doctoral program and have 4 midterms due between monday and the following thursday on top of formulating my master's thesis for proposal by mid november and working 20 hours a week at my assistantship, AND working in the student counseling center for my clinical hours....

if your program is anything like mine, get your work done first. PSU football will be there for the next 80 years and you'll get your fix next week. doing the work to start your career off right only happens once. you know your work load though, if you can swing it, go for it.

I just moved to Milwaukee so I'm most likely taking the train home or driving home. Thats always subject to change and maybe ill end up staying and finding a room.

Tuesdays at the phyrst were my favorite. Most people went to Den for cheap beer, but Phyrst was more low key with half price everything and free fries. Some pitchers of Yuengling and bear fights and free fries for 10-20 bucks made for some great Tuesday nights.
