The only two revenue sports are football and basketball. Basketball revunue would increase, and if ND were to join with us I seriously doubt there would be much of a drop in FB revenue. Couple that with decreased travel costs based on the divisional alignments, and I don't see us getting hurt too badly financially.
After that BS announcement from the B1G yesterday, I'm firmly in favor of making this move if the opportunity presents itself.
I'm "IN", also. We are a more natural fit in the new ACC.
This thread is a complete joke.
Until someone explains to the group what the CIC is, and how it benefits Penn State, you guys are all chasing your tails.
You guys are talking about TV rights to football games ... LOL
PSU has a $800 million annual research expediture machine . . . . . .
$800 million a year.
ACC isn't going to help that $800m/yr figure at all, whatsoever.
A good chuck of that number is aided by the CIC
Academically & research, PSU is built exactly like most of the B1G schools - not like the ACC schools.
What the AD might want w/ athletics in the B1G will not be what the faculty & researchers want w/ the CIC.
The CIC is a research machine - over $6 BILLION annually in research . . . . whereas the ACC (aside from UNC & VT) are mostly a bunch of smaller, private schools with great undergrad academics, but don't have nowhere near the research capacity as Penn State.
Google the CIC .... educate yourselves.

My bad . . . . 2009-2010, the CIC had over $7 BILLION in research expenditures.
PSU simply isn't going to walk away from this collaboration because a few of the B1G ADs feel squirmy about Jerry Sandusky.
Headquartered in the Midwest, the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) is a consortium of the Big Ten universities plus the University of Chicago.
Do we have to be in the Big 10 to have CIC membership?
