By 'quick to pull him' I assume you meant what actually happened, which was refused to pull him despite poor to abysmal play vs. Temple, Illinois, and Iowa, and then gave him a chance to beat out McGloin during the week of NorthWestern. Then when he couldn't beat out McGloin during that week of open competition he gave him the start so he wouldn't lose his job due to injury - and then only pulled him when his inability to see the pass rush made him a danger to himself and a liability to the team. I assume that's what you meant.

If Bolden somehow got screwed last year, then so did Newsome, who was 2nd string and was never given a shot despite how poorly and inconsistently Bolden played at times. Bolden benefitted from Paterno's QB loyalty when he was the starter, and when he was no longer the starter he was given the same chance to win the job that Newsome and McGloin were given in the first half of the year.
