A Brief Rally Update...

  • To those of you who remain angry and frustrated by the massive failures of the BOT and Erickson over the past eighteen or so months, I would suggest that you keep that anger and frustration alive and well for a short while. If you missed the rally on September 15th, you will have another opportunity to stand with other Penn Staters, and sooner than you might think. October is going to be an "interesting" month for all of us.

    DavidM

  • Is there any way you guys can put all of these types of posts into one thread? A couple new posts a day about rallies and McQueary and different theories are annoying, IMO. I'd assume many feel the same way.

  • I live to try to diminish your level of irritation, panic but I'm not sure where you'd recommend this post be put, other than either the trash or a thread labelled "Everything I Don't Care About Because It Isn't Directly About Football." I looked at the posts on the first page, and don't see any other reasonable place to put this. I hope to be forgiven. pray

You can create a thread titled: "Information on [insert group]'s rallies" and update it with each rally you intend to hold. Similarly, you guys could create a "PS4RS Findings thread" or a "framingjoepaterno.com findings thread." I don't see why my post irritates you. These threads tend to end in pissing matches and it's annoying, to me, to see multiple of said pissing matches daily. Hence, my suggestion.

A simple "no thank you" would have been a more appropriate response than to put me down. But that's your prerogative. Please continue to downvote my suggestions.

  • Perhaps you're right about my reaction. In fact, though, I have primarily posted here when an upcoming event was almost here (hence my reaction to your reaction), and I have no desire to force myself or my particular "political" interests on those who don't care about them. I will endeavor to keep this stuff to a minimum, and keep my finger off the downvote button.

I'd actually hoped that my previous post came off as snarky rather than nasty--the latter was not my intent. Sorry.

    Ditto.

I'd rather keep the majority of posts on this board related to PSU sports and other sports rather than the lack of action/inaction from PSU's administration through this whole ordeal.

  • I prefer when there is new info that there is a new thread. I dont visit threads much once they hit a certain length as I figure they have just turned into a new said pissing match. I understand that some arent interested...but then again some are. I like to see what is going on, new happenings, new articles or blogs or whatever(depending on the topic). To each their own on this one I suppose.

Thanks for the heads up. Keep them coming, and provide details in a new thread when appropriate. Folks can ignore them if they're disinterested.

    I'm with Seltz.
I understand what shav and others are saying too and I'm not saying they're wrong.
But I echo Seltz's sentiments exactly.

  • Compared with other boards the amount of Sandusky stuff here, even with updates like this, is by far the lowest anywhere.

It's part of the reason I love this board.

This board has hardly any mention of the Board/investigating, and certainly far less than its counterparts. It's not like David's threads are cluttering up the first page of the site. I'd say an overwhelming majority of the posts on this board do not refer to this topic. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I find getting to the bottom of this and replacing Board members as slightly more important than what seasonal beer people like.

Not meant to be an attack on you, but sometimes the apathy on this board gets to me.

  • As long as people aren't clogging the front page with stuff, I don't see the complaint. If no one is interested, it will naturally get off the front page in a day or two anyway. People need to stop whining over personal preferences on a community board.

over look the 24/7 whiners, they don't have to read it, like I refuse to read new-era stuff
    keep em coming

  • OMG Yes, please put them somewhere ese. I mean really how annoying is it to just not open up the thread when you see what you don't want to see? I see Whacky Dog every day but do I complain or ask it to all be under 1 thread?

Keep doing what you are doing. Obviously shavismo2 has nothing better to do than read threads that he doesn't want to read.

You are one vote for them being "annoying."

I am one vote for them being "not annoying and worthy of their own thread (so that the news doesn't get missed because it's buried in some generic 'Anti-BoT Thread' thread)"

I just think the cost (an extra thread here and there on the penn state football discussion forum I frequent) worth it to keep the pressure on.

But I am only one vote, and if I'm outvoted -- hey, I understand that's the way it goes.

And to DaveM, keep up the good work! Much appreciated!

Exactly. This is the great thing about thread view. With one quick glance at a 200+ message thread, you can see all the individual discussions and know exactly whether it's something you're interested in or not. Encourages so much more participation.

I'm like you, once a topic view "thread" hits a certain length, I don't even bother with it anymore.

    Point taken.

I'd just rather come to the board to read about PSU sports and other sports than the latest article from PS4RS or any other group trying to make headlines and do what our administration didn't. While I appreciate the efforts and passion of those groups, I'd rather just come here to talk/read about sports and that's it.

Bottom line, it is what it is and this is a message board and it's the only one on this site, for now.

    This made me LOL!

I've seen the "beer" thread rise to page 1. Just never seemed to pique my interest to post there let alone even open the thread!

I do read the OPs from David aurabass and such who care to post here, b/c I'm interested in the content and progression of their investigations. I don't always post in 'em but I do read them.

It seems to me that someone who has to post negatively in an OP that he doesn't want to see these post proliferate is somehow "conflicted" IMO.

Why read it if you don't like the OP topic? Just let it go and do your thing.

    Whatever!

Interesting. Came here to talk sports and only sports and posted in a PS4RS thread. Conflicted? shrug

I tend to agree (see bolded text in the quote). The only exception for me is the twitter thread. I read it no less than once a week and on average twice. The pace that it is growing is a good pace for me to keep up with and its content is always current. Roaringlion has done a fantastic job with that thread. I have a Twitter Acct. but I don't have the energy to follow what the folks who contirbute to that thread do. Its fun for me. I just ignore the content that I'm not interested in and focus on the stuff that piques my attention.
