2014 PA prospects

  • Haven't heard much about them so far. Here's a couple that I've seen mentioned lately:

Trevon Mathis -- was mentioned as a top performer at the NLA 7 on 7 in Pittsburgh. Article attached, but couldn't find film.

Dravon Henry, from Aliquippa is the other. Film attached.

    Wrap: NLA 7on7 East Regional

The Goon Squad took home the championship at the NLA 7on7 thanks in part to the play of Nadir Barnwell. We wrap up the weekends events from the Pittsburgh area.

  • I guess somehow I missed two of the other PA prospects mentioned in that same article:

    Harry Randall -- Film attached.

    Ron Brown

Don't know if these kids will be high-level recruits or not, but their names are out there, so I figured they deserve a mention.

  • I will add CB Marques Little from Williamstown, NJ. Visited with Webb and Drennon earlier this year and also was up for the Spring game I believe. Seems to like us a lot.

Well that just changes the whole question. Thought we were only talking PA prospects.

headslap I'm just gonna act like I knew that all along and come back with a response like....

"We need to recruit New Jersey as if it's our home state of PA."

    Carry on with PA prospects...

headslap Forgot about Ford and Kincade.

And yeah, I knew people had discussed 2014 PA prospects and who was showing well, thought it might be appropriate to start some discussion of them.

  • You gotta think that we have a very good shot with Ford considering his relationship with AB and how often he has already visited. It will be interested to see how wide a net we throw on the position in 2014 considering some of the guys we've been out to check in on already.

I had to stop myself for a second there when I was thinking that we have Hack already...and we all think he could be a 3-4 year starter...but consider we could be bringing in kids of his caliber on a yearly basis if things go as planned...

  • RWC: Just giving you a hard time.

Bills: That list I got from somewhere... Definitely not mine. I hope ithers who live in and love PA know a ton more.

The staff has made it known that they aren't going to lay low after taking Hack. They've "shown interest" in at least 5 good/great 2014 QB's that I know of: Drew Barker, Chance Stewart, Anthony Siciliano, Andrew Ford, and the kid in Florida who said he'd camp here. Ford needs to show some improvement, but he's got potential. Excited to see what he can do this year with Breneman...and then the next year without him. Safe to say he's a guy we'll most likely fall back on at the least, if we miss on other 2014 QB's.

MTayl - Yeah, should have looked around a little more before saying what I did (not hearing about 2014 PA prospects). I'm going to keep using lack of sleep as an excuse for a couple more months.

By the way, forgot about another kid - AJ Long, from around the Philly area, I believe. Another 2014 QB, visited for the spring game. Man, I think I forgot about half the state.

As long as Lezzer gets and offer from is he will play at PSU. He had to uncles play at State (Chad and Josh Kroell). Neither were stars in college but got ships from Joe because of what was between their ears, which I have no problem with.

Wow.. I went to a neighboring high school when Chad Kroell was breaking all kinds of PA records throwing to Wes Dahlem, I am completely freaked out that they are old enough to have a nephew ready to play college ball... I feel real old.

Lol. Don't worry I'm laughing with you, not at you. We're both from the sticks. I moved to Pittsburgh after finishing @ PSU.

  • Yeah, I moved away after graduating from PSU too, in the Detroit suburbs now.

I got to watch AJ Long play my HS in districts two years ago as a Freshman and he was good then. Only problem for him is he plays for PIUS X, which is an A school from the All-American conference, and is probably the weakest league in the entire state. (Carson Long, Columbia Montour Vo Tech, Lourdes, East Juniata, Bucktail).

He is definately a good looking prospect though.

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.

I think schools will shy away from him. Height is an issue. Not even 6 ft tall. That being said, height is not everything. There are better options in PA in that class.
