2012 DB Wayne Morgan

  • Claims PSU verbal. Sounds like his recruitment is heating up.

The state of New York is slowly starting to gain more attention on the recruiting trail. Recruiters are no stranger to the area, however basketball has been the main focal point in seasons past. Last year the emergence of star tackle Dominique Easley, coupled with Ishaq Williams this year, gives players like Erasmus hall (NY) Wayne Morgan of 2012 early attention. Morgan currently claims a few verbal offers and continues to hear from other top colleges.

"I have a few offers now, I think I have 6," stated Morgan. "Maryland, Rutgers, PSU (Penn State), Miami and Uconn have offered. I'm also hearing from UCLA, Syracuse, Florida, Notre Dame, Pitt, and Boston College. I'm being recruited as an athlete, but most schools want me for corner back or safety. Rutgers was even talking about using me in some wildcat options on offense. I would love to hear from Alabama, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia."

Although Morgan has enjoyed his early recruiting attention, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound star mentioned that a couple schools are sticking out early.

"PSU and Miami are standing out early," said Morgan. "I'm still open to the process and I think I'm going to take my time with the process. I've already visited Penn State and Rutgers, I'll probably get back to Penn and watch another game this year. I was supposed to go to Miami but it didn't work out. I'll try to get down there next spring."

  • Supposedly this kid has the south written all over him, but I like that we're one of his favorites early on. Given the proximity, he'll hopefully get some good exposure of the program heading into 2011.

Although the kid has some attitude about him, there is no denying he is an elite talent at this stage. We also will need some serious help in the secondary after this class, so I would hope he continues to get a lot of attention from Buggs.

  • He could come in, and be 2-Deep immediately...hopefully he is one of those kids who wants to play early.

  • The way things have gone this year, Morgan may be one of the biggest(most important) recruits out there for us in '12.

  • Yep, we need someone like this at safety. Even when the opposition makes a play...he makes them pay$.
