Ware will not play for Penn State in 2011.
Junior defensive tackle Brandon Ware's well-documented Penn State career is over, at least for now, multiple sources have informed Lions247.com.
The Harrisburg native has been a resident in Joe Paterno's famed doghouse for various reasons, including his weight and his approach to academics. Sources indicated that his academic situation ultimately determined his outcome.
Following the spring semester, Ware was deemed academically ineligible. Due to a new NCAA rule, he would have to sit out the entire 2011 season should he choose to remain at Penn State. Sources say he will likely seek a transfer with the aid of the Nittany Lions staff.
Ware told Lions247.com that he finally had his weight under control at 320 pounds in late April, and he was expecting a big year from not only himself but the entire Penn State defensive line.
