Penn State's first big recruiting weekend isn't even over yet and already the Nittany Lions have gotten returns. Daphne (Ala.) Bayside Academy linebacker Jonathan Walton committed to head coach Bill O'Brien and defensive coordinator Ted Roof on Sunday morning.
Walton and Issah committed to Penn State on Sunday.
The 6-foot-1, 227-pound prospect committed to the Nittany Lions over scholarship offers from Minnesota, Troy, Arkansas State, South Alabama and UAB. He is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports and carries an 86 rating.
He is ranked the No. 48 inside linebacker in the country and is the No. 25 player in Alabama per 247Sports.
He was recruited for the Nittany Lions by Ted Roof.
Shortly after, news leaked that Harrisburg (Pa.) Central Dauphin linebacker Zayd Issah had recommitted to the Nittany Lions.
Issah committed to Penn State over the summer, but like many he backed away from those plans after the Nittany LIons were hit with heavy NCAA sanctions in July.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound outside linebacker chose the Nittany Lions over a host of offers, including finalists Arizona State and Oregon.
Issah is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports, carrying an 88 overall rating. He is the No. 33 outside linebacker nationally and the No. 11 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania.
He was a first team all-state selection as a junior and a sophomore and was the state's Class AAAA co-Player of the Year in 2011 after leading Central Dauphin to a state title.
He was recruited for the Nittany Lions by Larry Johnson.
