Penn State offers top PA wideout

Lewis now has 11 verbal scholarship offers.

The Nittany Lions have extended a verbal scholarship to what may be the top wideout in the Keystone State's Class of 2012, Plymouth (Pa.) Wyoming Valley West athlete Eugene Lewis.

"I just got off the phone with Coach Anderson and he confirmed to me that they have offered," Lewis said via text message on Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Lewis was the area player of the year as a junior after passing for more than 1,200 yards and running for an additional 1,100 in 11 games.

Penn State joined in a race that already includes Boston College, Connecticut, Louisville, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, South Carolina, Temple, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
