On Saturday, 2013 Washington (D.C.) Sidwell Friends wing Josh Hart took in his second Penn State football game, this time on an official visit.
Hart was impressed by Penn State this weekend.
After attending the tilt against Iowa in 2011, Hart travelled to State College late last week on the heels of an official to Villanova, with some uncertainties regarding Penn State.
“I had a few question marks surrounding Penn State like the support and how they were going to react to everything, but that really got cleared up with everyone showing their support this weekend,” said Hart on Sunday. “The game was crazy, I went up last year when they played Iowa, this time was a whole different atmosphere.”
The overall No. 123 ranked prospect by 247Sports arrived on Friday and left on Sunday, covering lots of ground while on campus.
“It went really well, I was able to hang out with some of the players,” explained Hart. “Tim Frazier, D.J. Newbill, Jermaine Marshall, it was a lot of fun being able to talk about the coaches and how it is going to Penn State.
“One day my family, Coach Chambers, Kamall [Richards] and his family we were out to lunch, everyone was stopping by and showing their support for the basketball team.”
The 6-foot-4.5, 196-pounder had the chance to meet with another influential Penn State figure while on the visit.
“I got to sit down with coach Bill O’Brien, he was just saying its a great school, the community is supportive,” said Hart. “He was talking about Coach Chambers and how he holds him in high regard. It was a great experience meeting him.”
Hart, who is still planning on taking all five official visits, also enjoyed the trip to Villanova earlier in the week.
“It was good, it was my first time there seeing the campus, I hung out with Ty Johnson and Dylan Ennis, it was cool to see the facilities,” recalled Hart. “The coaches were nice, just like Penn State’s staff, they’re high character guys.”
Joining Hart on an official this weekend was fellow 2013 recruit Richards, and the two were able to form a bit of a bond throughout the viist.
“I never met him before but I played against him in AAU,” said Hart. “He was really cool, just talking to him and hanging out was good.”
Going forward, Hart will visit Rutgers this upcoming weekend, Miami at the end of September and Arizona in October.
