Gesicki is a Lion

Manahawkin (N.J.) Southern Regional tight end Mike Gesicki has made his choice, one day earlier than scheduled. The Top247 prospect has chosen to play his college ball for Bill O'Brien at Penn State.

The 6-foot-5, 236-pound prospect is the nation's No. 52 prospect in the Class of 2014 and the No. 1 tight end nationally.

Gesicki chose the Nittany Lions over scholarship offers from fellow finalist Ohio State, as well as Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Miami, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Yale and others.

As a junior in 2012, Gesicki caught 50 passes for 954 yards and nine touchdowns. He is also a standout basketball player and an all-state volleyball selection, leading the Rams to a state title in the latter last year.

Gesicki was recruited for the Nittany Lions by assistant coaches Ron Vanderlinden and John Strollo.

Stay tuned as Lions247 will have continuing coverage of the Nittany Lions' newest verbal commitment.
