Buggs not retained

Kermit Buggs

Penn State assistant coach Kermit Buggs will not be retained on Bill O'Brien's staff, he announced on his twitter account on Monday morning. Buggs took over as a full time assistant when Brian Norwood took the defensive coordinator position at Baylor in 2008.

"Just got the call this morning I am not being retained. I thank all of my followers in the Penn State Community!" Buggs said on his Twitter account around 8:30 a.m. "Penn State has done a lot for me and I appreciate all the love and support given to me in my 8 yrs at Penn State! We Are."

Buggs came to Penn State in 2003 after a successful coaching career in the high school ranks. He was a graduate assistant from 2003-05 and held the title of Coordinator of Player Personnel during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

He took over coaching the safeties following Norwood's departure and was named the secondary coach when Tom Bradley took over as interim head coach.
